Piazza San Marco
The complex is the center of the city and most important monumental area of the city.
The large rectangular square is dominated by the imposing silhouette of the tower with the same name, closed at one end by the magnificent facade of the Basilica.
On the other side, through a porch which is located in the right corner with his back to the basilica, you get to Orseolo Basin, where normally many gondoliers station waiting for visitors.
Coming out from the square to the left, near the Basilica, under the Clock Tower,  you arrive in the area of the Mercerie, the commercial part of town.
The area with the best fashion designers can reach coming out from the square on the opposite side of the basilica. Here are the shops of the most prestigious brands.
Not far away stands the Palazzo Ducale, with its porches overlooking the Bacino San Marco.
The view of the lagoon, especially at sunset, which includes the Punta della Salute, the island of Giudecca, and the island of San Giorgio is just fantastic.
From the first bridge on the left when facing the lagoon, you can see the famous bridge "Ponte dei Sospiri"
