Valdobbiadene

Valdobbiadene is a pretty little town nestled between green hills covered with vineyards and famous for being the center of the production area of Prosecco wine.
The production area is included in the triangle between Valdobbiadene, Conegliano and Vittorio Veneto.
One particular area called Cartizze, produces the wine of the same name: This is a small area of 106 hectares including into the villages of San Pietro di Barbozza, Santo Stefano and Saccol in Valdobbiadene.
The wine produced here assumed the official name of Prosecco di Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze.
The grapes are picked late, when it begins to wilt. Some time ago, the bunches are wrapped one by one in the leaves of the cobs, cartize said in local dialect, from which it derived its name.
This custom is now no longer practiced.
Cartizze, and Prosecco is a dry wine in general, can be served as a table wine, and goes particularly well with pasta dishes not overly processed and fish.
In spring, many events are held in the area that have as their main subject the Prosecco.

The area is however very beautiful and the scenery is enchanting especially in spring.
It 's definitely a nice place for a brief stay in search of the flavors of the Veneto
